One of the major back to school purchases when I was a wee one was new shoes. Even when I wasn't particularly inspired to get new kicks it was a necessity on the list like a backpack and office supplies. Now that I'm a touch bigger, I totally get why my mom insisted. Shoes wear down! Duh!
Aside from keeping up with the hottest styles, ain't nobody got time to have worn out soles (or souls for that matter). So in keeping with tradition, and more importantly a sorely needed refresh, here are my pics for back to school shopping: shoe edition

While "Timbs" gained notoriety as a hip hop thread, this boot was originated as a New England work horse. I can rarely resist repping for the East Coast, especially when it comes to classic style. The plan is to showcase the versatility of this shoe by rocking them like a prepster and also with a little urban swag.
And because this shoe was made for labor, they hold up amazingly and can be worn in the harshest of cold weather. Just don't forget to weather proof them to insure they're long lasting.

Over the Knee Boots

So...I gotta confess I've been a huge fan of over the knee boots for a few seasons now. I've got a brown pair from 3 years ago, and my go to black boots hit slightly above my knee which I love. Unfortunately, hoofing it around the city has taken a toll on both sets. Oddly enough the older brown pair (which are completely synthetic) have had longer lasting power-- go figure! Regardless both need to be re-soled or upgraded.
One of the things I love about an otk boot is that they keep you super warm. I mean come on, they practically cover your entire leg. You can also get a lot of wear out of them. I know, I know, all you can think about is hooker wear, but trust me, if the above outfits are any indication you can wear this with nearly anything and avoid comparisons to Pretty Woman. You can even rock this with a maxi.

It's a toss up between the flat pair and the heels. The jcp pair are much more within my price range, but I love how tall the Jeffrey Campbell ones are. Both of my old pair are flat so it may be time to try my hat at styling a stacked boot, but I'm loving the Campbell ones. Let's see how long I can wait (and save up) before I take the plunge and purchase.
